In this later added direct sequel to Rescue Me, Brad’s father is able to have his son released from prison. The shack is rebuilt, and Stan and Ford officially adopt Dipper and Mabel as their children. Eventually, Mabel and her family win the court case, and Brad is taken to prison. Mabel is left injured, and Stan is left questioning if he really can take care of the twins (me and Mary planned on writing a darker version of this part of the story where Mabel dies, but she cancelled it early on, given she didn’t want to alter the first story). Eventually, it looks like things are getting better, until Brad is released on bail, and, in the night, burns the shack down and nearly kills the Pines family in an attempt to rid the witnesses to his crime prior to the trial. In Rescue Me, Ford tries his best to help Mabel, even though Mabel leans on Stan more given he saved her and was there while he wasn’t. One major thing I see Mary and Kelly doing is to trying to make Mabel and Ford’s bond stronger. But the event has now left Mabel traumatized and in a terrible state mentally, which will be a driving force for the rest of this AU. He nearly succeeds, but Stan shows up and beats the living crap out of him. Based off of Keleficent’s old story My Pumpkin, Brad sneaks into the shack one night while Dipper and Ford are gone and attacks Mabel. In it, we’re introduced to the main antagonist OC character, a guy by the name of Brad. The oldest story and the flagship one too of this whole AU. It also sets in stage the seeds for the eventual backbone of the AU, Mabel and Ford coming closer as family in the face of great challenges. The story also takes a darker turn than the first version did, and shows us a more in depth look at how much this tragedy affects the twins, and what happened in the days after. It now has 20 chapters, and goes deeper into showing us the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. This story has since been rewritten by marehami and Keleficent. In it, the twins learn that their parents are gone, and it follows the immediate aftermath. It takes place on Dipper and Mabel’s birthday. This is the story that begins this whole tale. I’m gonna list them in chronological order to the story, not what date they were published, as some stories came out before others, have been rewritten, and even added later on. Now I’ll get into the part you want to know about, the stories. It takes the characters out of their cartoon protected bubble, and puts them in situations you can both only wish were allowed to be shown in cartoons, and also thankful are not. Her stories always have a real life feel to them. Keleficent is pretty well known for doing such things. ![]() Kelly and Mary use realistic/heartbreaking ideas to make the stories flow and stand out from other fanfics and/or AU’s. ![]() That’s what makes this AU stand out from others. ![]() From family issues, criminal activity, health related issues and more. As time progresses, the whole family must deal with many hair raising, traumatic and difficult experiences. Now orphans, and with no other real family members left, Stan and Ford adopt Dipper and Mabel as their own. Stan and Ford receive a phone call, telling them that the twin’s parents have been killed in a car accident. This all happens on Dipper and Mabel’s birthday. The AU’s entire existence and premise is based solely off one tragic change to the main Gravity Falls plot. The two would eventually go on to collaborate on this project, releasing several stories in the process. She wrote this AU originally as part of a fanfic based off an idea by GF fanfic legend Keleficent. So, for starters, what is it? Well, the Adoption AU is the brainchild of Fanfiction user marehami.
